Especially with long audio files, and the bigger the screen resolution, the worse the problem. This is totally unacceptable. It's been the same with the Mac beta, but I thought this would obviously be fixed in the final version. Now I'm appalled beyond belief to see nothing was done about it.
In a product destined to conquer the audio-for-video market, smooth video playback is a MUST!!! And it's got to have absolute priority over redrawing the timeline. Imagine the outcry from users if the audio was disturbed every time they touched the scroll wheel. Did anyone think this is acceptable with video? I mean, wasn't there a beta-tester or anybody in the team who would've said, okay guys, let's stop for a minute, we have a big problem here?
Also, having quicktime for video support on the PC is about as much as having a tricycle for interplanetary travel. Am I supposed to use only apple mov from now on, because that's roughly the only format the stupid quicktime for the pc can handle? Nonsense. (I understand the problems the developers may have had in this respect once Mac support was decided on, but for pc users this is a disaster.)
Please note that these issues are not in the magnitude of a missing function or two from AA3. I'm afraid they nuke any chances AA might have in the AV field.
No problem playing video a long with audio in Multitrack mode here on a PC from a DV.avi file.
