    How do I make a slideshow using an applet?

    JPPM Level 1
      I want to make a slide show or swap images with about 12 photos that I would like to fade out when switching to the next photo in a loop where they continue to change using the timeline. I am more of a hands-on person who has a hard time understanding the books directions and need to be told in simple laymens terms on how to do this. Could someone help me with this?

            Hi Murray FYI
            On my IE6 the left-hand side edge of the page is cut off.

            I only see 3.5 thumbnails (not sure if there should be 4 or more.

              Hmm - sorry - not quite sure what you mean by either. What is 3.5
              thumbnails?

                OK.

                When I open the page I see:

                2 separate areas:
                Right side shows the images large

                Left side has a series of small thumbnails - I am assuming that there should
                be 4 columns of thumnails?

                Only half of the first column is visible (looks like it has shifted left off
                the screen)

                Make sense now?

                  Yes - you can drag that area by mousing down on the title bar of the
                  thumbnail region and dragging it.

                        Look at the page in Firefox at 1024 pixels browser width. The thumbnail
                        panel is partially off the left side of the screen.

                        FWIW, you can click the gradient bar at the top of that panel and drag
                        it to the right so that it is entirely visible.

                          That type of slideshow is not what I had in mind. Here is a link to our homeoffice's website that has the type of slideshow I want to use for our office's website that I am currently redoing. http://www.marylandhistoricaltrust.net/
                          I tried saving this page to my Dreamweaver files, so I could try using their applet, but changing the images to our own images. I am just not sure how to create the files that work with this applet. They call their applet a "fadeshow". I have all my images that I want to use in this applet in their own folder inside my main image folder for my site. I have labeled this image folder "fadeshow". Could you please look at this website and possibly walk me through the steps I would need to take to create my own show on our website? Text Text

                            You would not want to use anything like that, since it is a Java applet.
                            Most people do not have the Java engine installed and will only see a gray
                            box when they come to the page (if anything at all). Besides, Java applets
                            are notoriously huge and sometimes flaky.

                            There are plenty of simple image rotators that you could get, but the system
                            that I have used also can be used in image rotator mode....

                              Try positioning the thumbnails on the right:
                              #p7SSMwhmb {
                              width: 138px;
                              position: absolute;
                              left: -179px;
                              top: 5px;
                              background-color: #FFFFFF;
                              z-index: 100;
                              filter: alpha(opacity=100);
                              opacity: 1.0;
                              margin-left: 860px;
                              }

                              Because the panel is AP, it can be scolled off screen left, but not
                              offscreen right. That's why we position them to the right by default:

                                Hmm - I'm sure mine was not moved significantly from the default location,
                                Al - maybe up/down a bit but surely not left/right.
