If the project settings are correct there should be no red line across the timeline. If there is then either the project setting is wrong or the clip is not in a format that PRE can understnd.
Where are these videos coming from and how did they get onto your PC?
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children
i have been using an insignia camcorder, a flip video (or something like it made by kodak) and a canon rebel t1i. the formats are .mov and .avi (not to mention the jpg photos). 30 fps, 1080p. the project settings are ntsc dv 1080p 30fps. everything seems to match, but that red line is still there...Oh, and I just import them from an sd card with the organizer program. Am I doing something wrong? Or could it be a software problem?
Hey, this was a problem in PRE 8, that for everything red line used to appear and evrything used to be unrendered until you render it manually.
This problem is fixed in PRE 9.
You are not going to be able to be able to mix those three different formats in the same project, Infinity. Not without lots of issues. Especially in version 8.
You should be able to use that miniDV footage in a DV project though.
To edit from the Flip camcorder, you'll need to upgrade to version 9, which does have project settings for Flip video. You will then be able to use Share/Computer/AVI to output a DV-AVI of this footage, which you will then be able to add to your DV project.
That Rebel video is likely to be a challenge though. And you may need to convert it first using one of the programs listed in our FAQs. (Quicktime Pro would be your best choice for converting this video to a DV-AVI.)
Once all of your footage has been converted to DV-AVI, you will be able to mix it into the same project.
Okay, thank you. I guess it's just up to me now to decide wether to upgrade or not. Thanks!
