That's interesting... I'm not at my editing computer, so I searched the PPro CS5 PDF for the word Tivo... and it is not found
So, I was not aware that PPro CS5 had a Tivo export setting... are you using the new PPro CS5.5?
I'm using version 5.0.3. Maybe I should check for an upgrade. But on
my version, there's a preset export setting under the overall H.264
codec setting, for "Tivo Series 3." (I have a Tivo Premiere, but they
should use the same file formats.)
Series 3 is newer than Premiere. It's possible they don't use the same format.
I've found a solution: I used the MPEG 2 export setting, with a
resolution of 1920 x 1080p, and it worked just fine. It's a tiny bit
twitchy on a pixel-by-pixel basis, but it's fine for big-screen
Glad that you found the right settings, and thank you for reporting your success. TiVo comes up about twice a year, but usually with users needing to go the other way - FROM TiVo.
I figured, if I did find a solution, I should post it, because I
couldn't find an answer anywhere. And maybe someone else'll find a
You were correct to post. Part of the function of the forum is to allow users to ask questions, and then get answers to those. Another part is that Adobe maintains the older threads (exceptions have occurred when forum software has been changed), so that other users can search and possibly find answers to their questions, without ever needing to post.
As your was the first question that I can recall on going TO the TiVo, glad to have the answer. Someone is likely to be helped by it in the future, and especailly as more users are utilizing various devices to stream media to their TV's.
ADDENDUM on using the MPEG-2 codec for export to Tivo Premiere. The
image is far from pristine, even when the resolution's set to 1920 x
1080. There's still a lot of blocking, and some pixel quiver in the
resolution. But at least it gets the video to the TiVo.
