I've heard that pixel bender can use another thread.
AS is still single-threaded at this time.
I have a few questions about multithreading. As far as I can tell, the flashplugin does a lot of resource requisitioning through the browser ( socket connection limitations and so forth ). So if the vm were to become multithreaded would it have to get a thread from the browser or the OS. I have heard of browsers already being multithreaded so that when one tab crashes it doesn't take down the whole browser but I don't know how that would effect the vm and the way things are currently done.
I don't now if the browsers require a request to spawn a thread. The player
code I've seen just looks like regular code. The main issue is making
things thread-safe. Especially the rendering pipeline.
Just for general information, browser were always multi-threaded, but since the Chrome's release some of theme launch one process per tab ;-)
