Interactive GUI and a Large Background - Best Option?

    DFarder

The project I'm working on is a desktop application that has a centralized interface.  Here's the issue:

We want a very large background image that starts in the center where the radial menu is.  Once an item is selected it moves the viewport to a new area on the background with other options creating a seamless transition from "page" to another.

My question is this: We are creating the program in JavaScript since the information we are pulling in is more easily worked with in that way.  But should I incorporate Flash to handle the entire background, transitions, and menu selections, or is there a way to do it in JavaScript using viewports?

I'd prefer to stick with JavaScript but any documentation involving viewports seems to be lacking, at least in the way that I intend to use them.  If anyone has any suggestions or help it would be very appreciated.

      Thanks!
