So I have to ask, because as a photographer, I have several great tools available to me for cataloging my images. (ie. LightRoom, Apeture, etc.) What do you guys use for cataloging? Besides each project which may have two years of footage, we buy, shoot and use quite a bit of stock footage, but I am starting to find it difficult to find what I need using basic directory structure? I am on a PC...
For me, it's Bridge and ThumbsPlus.
Some folks like Bridge, but I *hatehatehate* it. Check out CatDV, which is purpose-built for digital asset management in a much better way than Bridge could ever hope to be. The Standard Edition is very reasonably priced.
I'm like Bill, I like Bridge. Unfortunately, it's limited due the the asinine folder structure used by most current solid state cameras. So maybe Colin's program is worth looking at.
(Just putting this out there again, but ALL cameras should record video, audio, timecode and other metadata into ONE SINGLE FILE, with no relevance or dependence on any other file or folder.)
