I am a graphic designer at a publishing company and we have several print books created in Indesign that we need to make available digitally. Part of that process will be to convert our current indexes to hyperlinks within the document. For example, if there is an entry for "Acupuncture" in the index, rather than have a page number next to it (because that doesn't matter when it is digital), we would like to be able to click on it (or search for the entry) and the locations within the book come up. The index marks have already been placed, so really it would be nice to just find a script that is capable of converting the index entries to hyperlinks.
Is this even possible? Thank you in advance for your help!
Index marks are already hyperlinks. In fact, that's how they are stored internally.
But a PDF exported produces a index where clicking on the page numbers takes you to the text.
Can you give a more concrete example of what you want, please?
