    Organize Files in Bin?

    conleec Community Member

      Hello Everybody,

      Is it possible to create folders, or in any other way organize the files which accumulate in the 'Files' window when working on a project in Audition?

      I'm messing around with using it for rudimentary mixes on video projects, using OMF exports from Avid to bring the audio in and a QT of the movie to mix to. But working with these projects becomes unwieldy as the number of audio files reaches into the hundreds or thousands very quickly. I'd like to be able to separate my SFX and MX from the PROD elements at the very least.

      Thanks for any thoughts on this.

      Chris

          Hey everybody,

          This is a forum question.

          Why does my original question only appear when I select "Open Questions" from the forum drop-down, but it doesn't appear in the forum with the default of "All Threads" selected in the drop down? Isn't "All Threads" really all threads? It took me forever to even find my question again, when I logged in this morning.

            function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

            Hi Chris, can't help you with the forum situation, which has frustrated me for years.  But I can tell you (as an occasional Premiere user) that Audition has no bins and it's a great idea.  In fact, since Adobe is appealing to video users right now, the time has never been better to add this.  I will submit a feature request!

              Conleec and MC: and what about being able to rename the files that appear in the files window, which would then appear in the Windows Explorer folder for the session as well?  Useful?  It would be useful for me, for sure.

                Being able to rename files in the folder/bin is definitely useful -- can you not do that now? However, I come from the Avid world where names are tracked via database, so you can change clip names in the bin WITHOUT changing file names at the system level, which I actually prefer for a number of reasons. But yes, in general it would be great to be able to change names in the bin.

                  Suite Spot would also like to be able to have clip names and track names separate.  I wonder if BOTH options could be worked into the file-saving machinery?
