PREL is the extension of Premiere Elements Projects and not for the videos downloaded from cameras using it.
Can you make it more clear that how did u downloaded the video from your camera, before it gave a prel file extension to your video.
John is right. The .prel file is your Premiere Elements project file.
The video from that camcorder is, I believe, a .mp4 file.
There is confusion here. The PREL is not your media Assets, but is the Project file. This ARTICLE will give you some background on the PREL file, plus also cover the variations of Save.

that file was empty, the video was in
Glad to have helped. The PREL has tripped up many, and that was the reason for doing that article. I added the variations on Save since I was talking about PREL's already, in hopes of helping people understand the similarities and the differences. The same (though for Images) holds true for Photoshop too.
