1. Re: cineform & 5D & premiere
Ann Bens May 23, 2011 12:16 PM (in response to lou4uandme)Cineform is not a lossless codec. Cineform is visually lossless, but i do not think they mean at 1600 zoom.

lou4uandme May 23, 2011 12:27 PM (in response to Ann Bens)So if I have to convert 200 clips, what software will allow me to have 0 degrade?

Ann Bens May 23, 2011 12:38 PM (in response to lou4uandme)Its not the software its the codec with the compression rate.
You could try Lagarith, that is a lossless codec.
You get huge files, so does Cineform.
What is the final destination of the footage?

JSS1138 May 23, 2011 2:00 PM (in response to lou4uandme)it seems to be the general rule over here that if you have h264 footage from the 5D, then convert to pror res (Mac) and cineform (pc)
Really? I wonder why. It should work fine in PP without conversion.

Absolutely. I can edit this stuff natively no problem.
The OP is confusing a FCP workflow with a PPRO workflow.

lou4uandme May 23, 2011 4:10 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Well when it is finished, it will be sent to a Scratch system. So dpx, tga, mov will be fine however, maxium convertion is needed for Grading.

jkosmicki May 24, 2011 7:05 AM (in response to lou4uandme)function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
When I render in cineform, I have yet to get an exact copy.
Why?
Because CineForm will correct the 5D's 4:2:0 chroma artifacting, resulting in a cleaner, more natural looking image.
