Could you expand on that, with information on your motherboard brand/model and your USB drive brand/model and what you edit?
I have not had good results myself, so just make sure I have enough internal drives to edit... but if using a USB drive does work for video editing, I'd like to be able to point people with questions to specific information on what does work
Bump - Jim... any information about using USB hard drives for editing?
I connect several USB drives of different manufacture and specs to both my own workstation using an Asus mobo and my producer's laptop with who knows what inside.
For DV it works fine, though obviously not quite as snappy as an internal. Should also work fine for HDV and AVCHD, as they have the same data rate as DV.
