I installed the new version of Adobe reader when prompted by my bank. It failed to open the statements, and would not work on other applications, so I removed it and installed an older version. The older version will not open the bank statements, and when I try to install the newer version, it says it is already installed, but it does not show up in the control panel list. When I run a search for adobe, I get many files, then a runtime error that says it has to close the search. What do I do?
You may try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove all traces of previous installations of Reader from your system, and then install the version you want. It is no longer supported by Microsoft, but you can still download it from 3rd-party download sites like http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
