I'm sure this is a hugely naive newbie question, but when I double click on the text color box in the tool bar, I get a color picker that only seems to let me pick a color with a hue. How do I set the color of text to a gray, white or black. I can get white by moving the color target all the way to the upper right corner, but, for the life of me I can't figure out how to find a place where I can select a range of grays.
Thanks. I feel like a real lame brain. It actually took me a while to figure out how to get the color panel to provide a range of grays, but I finally did. Much in Indesign seems extremely inaccessible or arcane. The basic program is so useful I guess it is worth slogging through the rest. I remember the days of PageMaker and the simplicity and intuitiveness of that program for putting together fliers and cards. I feel like I am driving the spaceshuttle when all I need is a volkswagen.
It's a lot to learn, especially when I use it so infrequently I end up forgetting what I have learned.
Or just select the [Black] swatch, then adjust the tint using the field/slider in the Swatches panel....
