We have just installed AE CS5 working on a new PC at work. it has an output to a PAL or HD broadcvast monitor via the Matrox MXO2 Mini.
If there are transparent parts of the image it shows an unexpected result.
For instance, if you have the comps BGND set to red then have a white solid with a star shaped mask on it you see a rectangular white shape on the monitor with odd black pixels around the star shape. This white rectangle is not the solid as it doesn't fill the screen. It seems to be a bounding rectangle that contains the mask.
Perhaps it is outputting the straight RGB rather than a Premultiplied image? Or it needs to involve the alpha channel somewhere?
Our old system of a mac CS3 and a Black Magic Card would show the comps BGND colour in the same way that AE did.
It seems that I have to turn on a dummy solid on the bottom of the comp to see things properly.
Could this be a setting of AE? I couldn't find anything in the MXO2' s config.
Ok, it's definately outputting straight RGB rather than premultiplied.
Where is this kind of thing set? Has anyone have any experience with other video output cards?
