    Replacing Missing Fonts

    Maria964 Community Member

      Hi,

I have a few hundred AI graphics using Helvetica (wich is not installed in my system) and I want to convert all the fonts in the graphics with Myriad Pro.

No problem: I have made an action that does that. But I want the fonts changed this way:

Helvetica Oblique            ---->    Myriad Pro Italique

Helvetica Regular            ---->    Myriad Pro Regular

Helvetica Bold                ---->    Myriad Pro Bold

Helvetica Bold Italic        ---->    Myriad Pro Bold Italic

Is there anyway to automate this job?

      Thank you in advance

      Maria

PS. I am in Windows with Illustrator 5.5 and I confess I know nothing about scripting.

I think you are correct probably a script is the way to go and if someone on this forum does not post one here you should go to the Illustrator Scripting forum and ask for a little guidance on how to write such a script it sounds like it might be a script that can enter you into sripting.

There may also be a free one on the Adobe Exchange that does this.

My other thought was to make an action for each font you wish to replace and simply batch process them one at a time which would be running four batches.

Thank you Wade for your reply.

I am going to take the «actions» way.

I only wrote two scripts myself one to one to move files from several folders to one and then trash them

and the other was for AI I don't really recall what it did but I think it mde a new document of a certain size. AI version 8.

              Long time ago.

BTW You,re welcome I hope it works out for you.
