I typically work in Dreamweaver on my Macbook. However, if I'm working on a website, and decide to stop for a while (at which point I would close my Macbook), whenever I open my Macbook again, the FTP connection if lost. Sometimes it comes back after an extended period of time, and other times I can get it to come back by disconnecting/reconnecting the airport a few times. But most of the time, I just shut Dreamweaver down and then reopen it. If I do that, the connection works perfectly fine again.
Does anyone know of a way to avoid having to shut down & restart Dreamweaver in order to maintain the FTP connection after putting a Macbook to sleep?
The FTP timeout is set by your web hosting provider. I do not believe DW has mechanisms in place to send blank commands to keep the connection alive and even if it did, it would require the computer to be operational. You should not have to restart DW though in order to get a connection. Simply clicking the connect button in the Files panel should do the trick.
ok. i tried it, and had to click the connect button 2 or 3 times, but it ended up reconnecting. it's better than restarting dreamweaver.
