Can you try installing the latest version of Adobe Reader i.e. Reader 10.1.0. Hopefully that will resolve your issue:
You can get the same from:
Hope this works for you.
Thank you for the suggestion. I upgraded to 10.1 and unfortunately the problem still occurrs.
Some additional information that I just discovered...
I have an HP Compaq L2105tm touch screen monitor. When I disconnect the USB cable that attaches the monitor to my PC, the problem goes away. Re-attach the monitor and it comes right back.

Can you try this?
1. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> General.
2. Uncheck 'Enable Protected Mode at startup'.
3. Click OK.
4. Close all running instances of Reader and launch it again.
See if the problem goes away this way.
Note : Please note that this is just to identify if the Reader Protected Mode is causing the problem or not. Disabling protected mode ( as I mentioned above ) might be an alternative for short term but it should not be a long term solution as it doesn't give you extra security which protected mode gives.
With Protected Mode disabled and my touch screen monitor plugged in, Adobe Reader X will now function normally.
I understand that this is a temporary work-around for the problem. I see that you are an Adobe employee, would you say that this is something that I can expect to be resolved in a future version of Reader?
Thanks for your help!
