1. Re: CS5 Cant load Cinedeck MXF file
Jim_Simon Jun 15, 2011 9:48 AM (in response to digitlman)Like AVI and MOV, MXF is simply a container that can hold many different kinds of video and audio information. While PP is designed to work with all three file formats, the critical part is the codec used for the actual video and audio, not all of which will be supported. For example, you can have an AVI file using the Xvid codec, which PP will not work with.
So look there to resovle the issue.

2. Re: CS5 Cant load Cinedeck MXF file
digitlman Jun 15, 2011 10:07 AM (in response to Jim_Simon)Right, i understand, they are avid mxf files and the page says:
- MXF (Media eXchange Format; P2 Movie: Panasonic Op-Atom variant of MXF, with video in DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO HD, AVC-Intra; XDCAM HD Movie, Sony XDCAM HD 50 (4:2:2), Avid MXF Movie)
It doesnt really specify, so i was actually just hoping adobe could chime in on this and maybe tell me what i needed to do or let me know if it is something they are working on. This new cinedeck extreme is a nice piece of equipment and could get very popular, they had a big showing at NAB this year and we are purchasing them for all our HD field tapeless acquisition. It also does Quicktime Movies but i am trying to avoid that as we are on pc's and basically quicktime sucks on pc's

I hear that!
Avid MXF doesn't really say much, though. (At least not to me.) What is the exact codec used? DNxHD, or something else maybe?

yes Avid DNxHD is exactly the codec it is using for the MXF files.
I am still using CS5 on this machine, i am waiting for another machine to have cs5.5 installed on to test before we upgrade all of our editors. Is this file supported in 5.5 and not 5?

Yes i already tried installing that codec, it didn't seem to make a difference. I think it may be a quicktime specific codec
on that install for .mov containers only.
