You can only place a picture across a spread, not across multiple spreads.
How are you planning on printing/using the resulting file? Commercial printing? Printing on your own printer? Or use online?
While what Steve says is correct, you can make a four-page (or up to 10 pages) spread by creating a facing pages document, then setting the spread not to shuffle. Drag additional pages into the spread.
It is important, though, that you know how you will print.
Yes, I know we can make multiple-page spreads, but the poster specifically wrote, "Ok, I could place it new on every double-page...."

In that case, I'd still be tempted to start with a 4-page spread. Place the image as you want it, then copy and past in place on top of itself. Crop the left side of the top copy to the center boundary, then select the bottom copy and crop off the right side to the center boundary. Restore shuffling.
