1. Re: Saving as JPG - CS5 defaults to PSD, even when flattened
tfkelly42 Jun 16, 2011 2:18 PM (in response to Gary L Phillips)have you added any channels? JPG doesn't save channels so prompts to save as psd format.

Gary L Phillips Jun 16, 2011 2:34 PM (in response to tfkelly42)No, no channels added. The last steps of my workflow are normally to "flatten", "Save As" then previously it'd already be selected as jpg so I could just hit "enter" and then "close" (all keyboard strokes). Now I have to use the mouse to drop down the box & select "jpg" then erase the "copy" that it adds to the file name (it doesn't always add this - I guess it depends on what manipulation I've done to the image, not sure).

R_Kelly Dec 21, 2011 2:27 PM (in response to Gary L Phillips)It should default to jpeg if the image was already a jpeg and you flattened the image before trying to save.
You might try resetting the photoshop preferences.

5. Re: Saving as JPG - CS5 defaults to PSD, even when flattened
Gary L Phillips Dec 21, 2011 11:58 PM (in response to Gary L Phillips)Yes, it was a 16 bit issue. I have a programmable keyboard that allows me to program multiple keystrokes as 1 button. Now I just go flatten, convert to 8 bit and save as....then the default is in fact .jpg! Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
