After my church's older Windows XP computer was stolen, we replaced it with a new HP 2010 model running Windows 7, 64-bit. When we tried to install Premiere Elements 3 onto the newer computer, the installation process went fine, but every time the program is opened we get an error message that says that our soundcard driver does not support direct sound input. Any ideas on how to remedy the issue??? We would prefer NOT to upgrade to a newer version of PE if we don't have to because the persons that use the program the most get really disgruntled when things (computer programs) change.
Welcome to the forum.
What is your soundcard/chip, and what is the current driver version/date of that?
I would go to the mfgr's. site, to see if there are newer drivers for it, and try the newest one. Note: be sure to plug in your OS version, when looking for drivers.
Good luck,

If the above does not help, see this ARTICLE. About 8 paragraphs down, there is a link to ASIO4All. That has helped many folk with the ASIO driver support, and on some pretty sophisticated DAW rigs.
Good luck,
