1. Re: Specify a Watched Folder in a script?
Larry G. Schneider Jul 5, 2011 9:21 AM (in response to benwiggy)A couple of points. Where is the Watched Folder going to reside? Do each and every computer accessing the folder have a full license for the current version of Acrobat?

2. Re: Specify a Watched Folder in a script?
benwiggy Jul 5, 2011 9:35 AM (in response to Larry G. Schneider)The folder will be in /var
Only the local machine will access the folder, so yes, they will need Distiller on each machine. I'm not trying to setup a PDF-making server.
I'm trying to create a package installer for a CUPS backend that prints PostScript to disk. Ideally, if Distiller exists, then the spool folder will be watched by Distiller.
Therefore, I want to know if it is possible to specify a Watched folder in any scriptable way.
Otherwise, I'll have to use pstopdf and let users deal with Acrobat manually. Which is sub-optimal.

3. Re: Specify a Watched Folder in a script?
Larry G. Schneider Jul 5, 2011 10:55 AM (in response to benwiggy)From just looking, the Watch folder will have to be created on each machine from within Distiller.

4. Re: Specify a Watched Folder in a script?
benwiggy Jul 5, 2011 11:09 AM (in response to Larry G. Schneider)Well, that's what I had concluded. I was just checking whether anyone knew something different.
How might your answer have differed, if I answered with a different location for the Watched Folder?

5. Re: Specify a Watched Folder in a script?
Larry G. Schneider Jul 5, 2011 11:13 AM (in response to benwiggy)The location is not the problem. It was just from the description of the creation process from the Distiller help file. And reading the Distiller Applescript Dictionary.
