I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned before on this forum, but Adobe has recently released its free Creative Suite 5/5.5 Printing Guide. They state that it is to "explain in detail a myriad of technicalities related to getting your documents to print correctly in a commercial environment".
Very interesting! I'm going to scrutinize it, but on first glance I'd say this is required reading material for everyone using InDesign.
First impressions: it's reassuringly big (20 MB, probably because of lots of explanatory illustrations), and ... created with InDesign CS5.5!
(Which is reassuring, because IIRC the manuals for CS2 and CS3 were made with FrameMaker ...)
Yes, looks like a very useful document. Thanks for pointing it out, Derek.
I laughed at its 21.9 MB size when I downloaded it. But simply choosing Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro gets it to 4.9 MB, and I can't see that I've lost anything.
Baffled why they laid it out like that? Can't put together a nice booklet with it now?
The images take up 18mb of the PDF.
I reduced the PDF to 3.1mb retaining bookmarks in the TOC too.
