I was wondering about how AE processes information, and renders it's output. I'm creating a DVD menu for a TV series that I've been recording, and I want to use some clips from the show in my menu. Here's what I'm wondering...
If I import a few clips that are episodes of the show (around 44 minutes long), and trim those clips to 5 seconds, and then render that out....would I end up with a similarly sized output file as if I had clipped out the 5 second clips, and then imported only the 5 second clips?
In other words, when AE renders a video, is the outpout only based on the actual video that is rendered? Or does the length/filesize of the imported clips factor in as well?
Only the frames you specify in the render settings are included in the rendered file. The file size depends on the frame size, the data rate, and the codec. Once rendered the clip is entirely self contained. There is no reference to the original footage.
The number or length of imported files have no impact on the render from AE.
