"object selection by path only" in Indesign?

Hi, I have just switched from cs4 to 5.5 and cannot seem to select an object if it is underneath another even if the top item has a 'none' fill. I know that I can hold cmd and select 'through' objects but in cs4 i didn't need to do this as long as the top item had no fill. In illustrator this preference can be turned on/off by way of the 'object selection by path only' check box but i cannot seem to find this in Indesign. Maybe I'm being lazy just not wanting to press the cmd key but it's just annoying the hell out of me so any enlightenment would be much appreciated.
