let's say I have a front shot of a coffee cup, and i have a layer which is an image of a text..not a text layer. and i want the layer to appear as if it is printed on the cup..which means that the edges of the layer will like go backwards and wrap the cup...It's hard to explain...i went through all of the effects and only CC Lens kind of has that effect....but it's far from the result i'm looking for.
my version of AE is CS4 btw.
Not knowing if this cup has straight or curved sides, two effects come to mind: CC Cylinder (you'll probably want to precomp the test for tweaking the cylinder layer dimensions) and Mesh Warp (potentially tricky to use).
Thank you for you quick reply, the Cylinder is what I mean but I don't need the text to be a closed circle...I mean more like in this image:
I understand that. That's why I recommended to precomp the text, so you can adjust the width of the precomp to make it look right when you apply Cylinder.
You need to learn that in AE, there are some not-very-apparent ways to skin a cat.
