How can I install Adobe Reader X without installing any McAfee products? I've just tried twice and saw a McAfee install start before I was ever prompted with an opt-in / opt-out selection.
I think default opt-in on third party software installation is a rather sleezy practice to begin with but this is far worse in my opinion.
If an opt-out option is so well hidden that a user can not easily find it I would always recommend that the user not install that software. I find it both sad and pathetic that ADOBE has put themself on that list— especially with PDFs being as popular as they are.
This marks the moment that I start to see some legitimacy to Steve Job's perspective of boycotting Adobe.
I found the opt-in checkbox (default checked) on the download webpage. I am guilty of clicking the download now button without reading the following fine print:
Maybe McAfee is just so popular and in-demand now days that Adobe wants me to believe that people would be complaining about accidently not opting in if they did not opt me in automatically.
