Harm Millaard Jul 15, 2011 3:35 PM (in response to racer_300m)There is no mistake, unfortunately. Adobe does their business in mysterious ways and refuse to accept that there is a global economy. In other countries it is the same, for instance upgrading from MC CS4 to MC CS5.5 is € 1199 in the Netherlands and € 600 (depending on exchange rate at the moment of billing) in the US. However Adobe refuses to accept orders from non-US credit cards, even if the shipping address is in the US, making it impossible to give a US based friend a gift with US prices. It is completely absurd that the same software, from the same company with the same EULA, downloaded from the same server should be so much more expensive in non-US countries. I even doubt the legality of such practices.

racer_300m Jul 15, 2011 4:16 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Further more the Production Premium is listed on the US store for $1699 US, on the Australian store it's $3025 US ($2840 AUD) a difference of $1326 US!!!!!!!
If I was a new Australian customer, I could fly to Hawaii, pick up the software from a retailer, spend a few nights in a Hotel and STILL SAVE MONEY!!!!!!!!
Or is that the entire rest of the World outside the US is expected to foot the bill for luring FCP/AVID users? Seems they get a better deal than the loyal customers who have supported the company for many years.
I don't mind paying- I just hate being discriminated against because of where I live.

Bill Hunt Jul 16, 2011 9:47 AM (in response to racer_300m)This question, or similar, has been coming up for years, regarding various Adobe products. It is not just Premiere. To date, I have not seen a reply, direct from Adobe (would guess that someone in either Sales, or Marketing would be required), as to why there are such variations in prices between countries and continents. As we are now blessed with a much greater Adobe presence, than at any time in the past, perhaps one of them can ring up Sales, or Marketing, and get some sort of response. I do not believe that any of our Adobe contributors are in either of those departments, so they would probably have to use the Official Adobe Department Directory, to find the right person.
Wish that I had something useful for you, but cannot ever recall an official response to this question.
Good luck,
Hunt

Anthony Abegglen Jul 18, 2011 5:04 AM (in response to racer_300m)I would also think this is why just one of the small reason you find that other countries so many users useing a hack copy of Adobe products, I find it diffical as a reseller of Adobe products to even make a fair profit on some of the products when I buy it from the main distrutor in my country, I could not a living out of sell their product. Maybe it is time after the FCPX thing , for Adobe to have a rethink, and to level the playing field so to say.
