There are other approaches though. On AudioMasters we have a Recordings Showcase forum where people can post clips of things they're having difficulty with, and we have several people available who can listen to them, and advise as necessary. And that doesn't cost anything. People can tell you what they did, you get to listen to the results, and they'll tell you what settings they used. We think that's really a win-win - you get the help you need, and hopefully you learn things into the bargain.
