We are creating a book with 17 sections. Each section is a separate InDesign file. We want to be able to click on a reference to a section from within another section and jump to that location, e.g., Section 8 references a paragraph in Section 3, we want to be able to click on that reference and jump to Section 3. We are trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this. Do we need to put all of the sections together into a single InDesign document? Can we use InDesign Book for this? I have heard that InDesign Book has a bug when exporting to interactive PDF that may make this not work. I tried an experiment and couldn't get the link to work using Book, but I am not sure I set it up correctly to begin with for moving across documents.
I don't do the interactive stuff in my workflow, but there are known issues with some interactive features and Books. I believe TOC links, for example only work inthe first document. Not sure about regular hyperlinks. Cross-doc cross-refernces are know to be a problem too, so bottom line may be you're better off to combine everything into one file,
That is what I thought, Peter. Thanks!
