I want to mimic this visual effect with a flat rectangle...have a shadow on just one edge and have the corners curl up a little bit.  Can anyone guide me through the right set of tools to achieve a realistic, but not over-the-top 3D effect to give a flat rectangle that extra "pop" so it feels like a real piece of paper?
      I appreciate your help!

draw a rectangle frame approximately same size as the original

Set fill to black or a desired swatch

          Apply Effects to the rectangle:

               Set Blending Mode to Multiply

Set opacity as desired (such as 35%)

               Apply Basic Feather

Use pen tool and direct select tool to distort 'shadow' frame to simulate 3D shadow effect.

          edit: layer behind original

          Experiment
