Opening file crashes Indesign CS5.  What now?

    CDSgraphicss

I was able to find a discussion about this, but it seem like it ended without a solution.

If this is a font issue, is there a solution to this?  I went to Font Book and cleared out any errors from all my fonts.

I created multiple backup files for this particular file and none of them open.  All of them crashes my Indesign CS5.

Any suggestion on what I can do?

What OS and version of InDesign CS5 (7.0.3?).

What does the crash report look like? See Guide to Interpreting InDesign Crash Reports.

Crash reports are really too long for this forum. Generally we recommend uploading to pastebin.com and posting a link here.

You can still edit your post and I encourage you to do so.

It appears that the problem arises in the CoolType module, possibly as a result of Optical kerning. I suspect you have a corrupt or damaged font on your system.

Try removing all third party fonts (even the ones you are using!) and see if you can successfully open the InDesign document. Also disable any

              font management software.

Actually, John, the author a a post can only edit until someone else posts a reply, so in effect, your post ended the ability.

Peter: I carefully did not reply to CDSgraphicss' long post, but rather to his

                  original.

thanks John.  The font thing worked.

Before I just deleted all the serious problems fonts, but this time around I got rid of all the minor problem fonts as well from Font Book.  Went to my Suitcase font program and turned off all the fonts.  The file finally opened.  Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem as well.

I never believed in these forum things, but I'm definitely starting to like it.

Great. What do you have to do around here to get Correct Answer points, anyhow? (http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/adobeforums/styles/../images/jive-icon-answer-correct-16x16.gif)

Anyhow, I guess I should post the relevant stack trace in case other people have the same problem and are searching for it, since it got edited out above:

Oh well, it was worth a try. How about my advice to the original poster?:

Try removing all third party fonts (even the ones you are using!) and see if you can successfully open the InDesign document. Also disable any

Indeed, your crash does appear to be font related:
