This should work just the same. Depending on your preview resolution and general system performance there may be some delay, though, and the markers end up a ltttle out of place. Also note, that placement precision in the timeline is affected by the timeline zoom level as well. Many times zooming into the region that is relevant will improve things...
Its not recording the markers when video is playing back. I turned off openGL, I tried re-installing my Quick Time. I set my multi-processing to off. Of my 6 GB of RAM, I assigned 1.05 GB for other applications. What else can I do. I called APPLE to help me with the Quick time issue and they said I should give Adobe a call regarding this, the problem is not on their end.
What all of us overlooked was that to add markers (in CS4) in real time you must be in the RAM preview mode otherwise pressing the * stops the playback.
