1. Create a AIR For iOS fla file.
2. Save the file.
3. Test Movie.
4. Browse to the file location and open the application descriptor file (xml file).
5. Go back to Flash and open AIR publish settings dialog.
6. Change the version number to anything you want. in our case, let's change it to (1.2).
7. file save and test movie.
8. Go back and open the descriptor file and make sure to find <version> tag and delete them all.
NOW, to update the version number in the xml file, find <versionNumber> tag and add the new version you want as 3 digit number.
For example, <versionNumber>1.2.0</versionNumber>
9. File Save.
10. File Publish.
Let me know if that works.
Thx, but it doesn't work =(
when i click publish, it exports at first the SWF, and then publish, so it changes the XML file and adds that <version> tag
and it is 1.2
for android AIR there is no such problem
is it ok, that deafult settings for file doesn't work correct?it looks strange
yeah, in Android XML is just no <version> tag
What version of AIR are you using? and also like the instruction above remove the version tag and add versionnumber tag.
where i can see the version of AIR?
sry, i didnt understood about versionnumber tag
i made it as you say, changed to 1.2.0
and it is still 1.2.0 after publishing
Copy and paste your xml here. Where are your publishing from flash or using ADT?
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- To localize the description, use the following format for the description element.
<text xml:lang="en">English App description goes here</text>
<text xml:lang="fr">French App description goes here</text>
<text xml:lang="ja">Japanese App description goes here</text>
<!-- To localize the name, use the following format for the name element.
<text xml:lang="en">English App name goes here</text>
<text xml:lang="fr">French App name goes here</text>
<text xml:lang="ja">Japanese App name goes here</text>
Whatz ur flash interface? Flash CS5 or CS5.5? If CS5 you must run your file from the command line using AIR SDK.
man, please, help me, its the last step before using on device, and i really wanna do that thing!
Remove offending elements and attributes. Custom values are not allowed in the descriptor file.
Check the spelling of element and attribute names.
Make sure that elements are placed within the correct parent element and that attributes are used with the correct elements.
not fully understand that
and i've found same problem topic
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
Copy and paste the above xml format and change according to your needs, Ensure there is no version tag, I seen at your xml file there is still the version tag.
man, i've deleted the tag, BUT it appears again everytime im clicking
publish and changes the XML file, and if i paste your code, it adds again
that tag when i click publish. becouse when publishing it exports SWF at
first. so, how to compile app file, whithout exporting SWF?
From the above steps I gave follow the below at the specific step, (ie) dont close the xml file after changed the tag and publish it again without closing the xml.
I would like to mention that when you save the xml file at Step 9, don't close the file. Otherwise, when you will try to publish the .ipa file on Step 10, Flash will change the xml file to but the <version> tag again. If the file is still open, Flash will not be able to modify it. When I first tried your solution, I closed the file after saving it... Error!
i open the XML in Dreamweaver, change it, save it, don't close it
click "Publish" - still get the error message, return to Dw - it sayz "The
XML file was changed outside the Dreamweaver...."
so Flash IS able to change opened XML
with TextEdit same - thing
should i open the XML in another way?
"The XML file was changed outside the Dreamweaver...." for this give no?
oh, man. forget it, i solved the problem just making it on another machine)
Thank you for the info, a long way down the track and I just found this in answer to the same question.
I edited the xml file in Flash, when it prompted for the changed file I answered yes and it correctly managed the icon.
