    URGENT- Problems with ImporterREDServer

    inaksi prod

      Hi,

      I shot a feature film with red one-mysterium. 4K.

I consntantly have ImporterREDServer crashing and soon enough, i can,t even put the footage on the source monitor. After 20 seconds I open Premiere, I get  few crashes in a row. Premiere does not crashes, just the importer.

I have all the lates upgrades in CS5  (5.0.3)

I can't find the problem. I alos have all the latest drivers for my hardware.

My video card (GTX 460 SE) is hacked to be able to use with mercury engine. It usualy works fine with P2 footage.

Any one had this problem before?

          Inaksi,

I don't think that it is your hardware, I think that this could be a software bug.

I was playing with downloaded RED clips just this past Saturday with my 5.0.3 CS5 and experienced something similar, but not as bothersome as what you are seeing. Here's what I'm seeing, and here is what I found...

My Issue is the following error when I am exiting Premiere after editing RED clips:

          "ImporterREDServer.exe has stopped working"

Your work sounds more interrupted by this however.

I Googled and found a thread on reduser.net where Todd Kopriva (Adobe employee) states that this problem has been fixed in 5.5, and as of 4/29/11 there was not a patch available for CS5 - 5.0.3 at that time.

Possibly downloading and trying 5.5 will get you where you need to go. Good luck!

          Todd?

          Regards,

          Jim

            Inaksi,

Totally unrelated to your ImporterREDserver issue, I would suggest that you upgrade to a 6-core, which would be a pretty easy change to implement.

I've never seen anything tax my 4.2 GHz OC'd i7-970 on playback (MPE assisted) like the RED 4.5k files did that I was playing with.

            See:

Where can I find Red 4k clips to download?
