I've made a simple app with a couple views and some text inputs, but the file sizes that are compiled (in either fast or standard mode for iOS compilation) are in the 120MB+ category, when even app store games with lots of graphics and menus are in the 30-50mb range on average.
Any ideas to reduce compiled file size for mobile apps?
120MB - WOW!
I am starting to look into the whole Adobe mobile dev tools - as apps are targetting devices with usually way smaller capabilites than common desktops - file size is possibly an important factor, right!? lol
You could take a look at some pure AS3 coding - Daniel Freeman seems to be having some fun in this direction with his non flexy AS3 mobile components library - MadComponents.
Keep us posted on your findings!
I was able to greatly reduce the file size to a realistic size by going into project properties -> Flex Build Packaging -> <device type> and then in the Package Contents tab, uncheck all but the required items. Worked great, and compiles faster as well.
