My Softkeyboard pops up then dissappears...
does yours even pop up at all?
Doesn't open at all on Xoom.
I've seen some posts that imply Xoom keyboard is not compatible with Flex/Flash, but no answers yet and no info from Adobe.
It doesn't make sense to me why Xoom would be different since it is an Android keyboard?
That's what I thought as well in regards to it being a Android keyboard, but the thing is it's not stock android.
Sorta like how samsung running android isn't the same as motorola running android...there's like a layer that the manufacturers have?
I opened up a bug report for a software keyboard issue, but it was closed because Adobe couldn't replicate the issue
Too bad they tested on 4.2 release rather than 4.5.1 release. Sometime I wonder why I bother with opening up a ticket if they just closed them off with that sorta detective work.
Anyhow I think even if they had tested on 4.5.1 they wouldn't have been able to replicate the issue as I'm seriously leaning towards it being a Motorola problem.
I'm running 3.01 / Someone else was running 3.1 has the same problem
I was hoping someone with 3.2 would be able to test the issue...
Next tablet will most likely be a Samsung, I have their phone and I really like it.
I'm using latest Xoom OS with Android 3.2 . My app used FB 4.5.1. No joy.
It's just the lack of detective work Adobe put into it that bothered me...
After further research I don't think it's an Adobe problem.
So reported Issues with software keyboard on
xoom android 3.01
xoom android 3.1
xoom android 3.2
So much for getting an android update to fix my issue...time to get a Samsung tablet instead...
I checked in on Motorola's forums. In general, there seems to be Flash issues with softkeyboard and specifically this post related to Flex
of course, no response there for past few months.
Galaxy Tab works great! Unfortunately, my client bought a Xoom and I have to find a solution.
P.S. I'm with you on the bugs. Every one I've submitted got closed even if it wasn't resolved! IMHO, a bug should only be closed once the submitter concurs. So, I quit submitting bugs.
while debugging on the Xoom, I tested softKeyboardActivate event. Never even fires.
I also tried added a market keyboard and set it as the device keyboard. Still nothing happened.
I also tried forcing the mobile textInputSkin in the TextInput skinClass, just in case Air was grabbing the wrong skin. It wasn't and this didn't help either.
I see that focus is set on the TextInput, so that isn't the issue.
I looked at Capabilities class but don't see a "supportsSoftKeyboard check or anything like that.
Need a response from Adobe of Xoom support.
There was a typo in the comments of the bug. Instead of Flex 4.2.5 it was supposed to say 4.5.2 which is the latest internal development build of Flex. I have confirmed that this bug happens on the Xoom in Flex 4.5.0 and Flex 4.5.1 on the Xoom, and have also confirmed it is fixed in 4.5.2.
I'm investigating further to see if there is a workaround for current builds.
Thanks for clearing things up...
Can you please provide your Xoom's Android version where you see this fail? Make sure you are using a Flex Mobile standalone application, not via the web browser.
Xoom Android 3.0.1
Flash Builder 4.5.1
What do you mean Flex Mobile standalone application not view the web browser?
I'm debugging with the Xoom plugged into the computer via USB.
Upon further investigation it appears that you likely have an older version of the AIR runtime installed on your device. The version of AIR that comes with the Flex 4.5.1 SDK is AIR 188.8.131.522, but the latest version available on the Android market is 184.108.40.2063. It's possible that Flash Builder installed AIR 2.6 for you if you didn't have an AIR runtime installed or had an older version, but if the market has a newer version than what Flash Builder knows of then you should use that latest version.
Can you please go to the Android Market on your device and update to the latest AIR runtime and let me know if this fixes these TextInput issues for you?
"What do you mean Flex Mobile standalone application not view the web browser?"
>> I meant a typical Flex mobile project running in AIR. Flex applications running via the web browser are not officially supported in the current release see this thread for more information.
Update to latest Air on my Xoom fixed the problem. softKeyboard now opens!
Appreciate the fast resolution to the problem. Thank you!
