1. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Yellow Christian Aug 5, 2011 12:49 PM (in response to Johannes Eckert)Hi Johannes, I've not seen v14 yet but just wanted to clarify your comment. So your hoping that you can code a navto attribute inside your HtML file that will jump out to stated article? If so that would be a very useful feature. Best regards Mark

2. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Johannes Eckert Aug 5, 2011 12:56 PM (in response to Yellow Christian)yes. that's what i am talking about.
i just wanted to know if it is possible to get my mind rolling on the things
that might be possible with that once v14 tools are out there.
funny enough, bob Bringhurst's recently approved DPS Tips App is a v1.9
viewer. the generic viewer for us is still in review by apple.

3. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Bob Bringhurst Aug 5, 2011 1:13 PM (in response to Johannes Eckert)Before v14, scrollable frames were basically Pan Only overlays, and Pan Only overlays were based on Web Content architecture. With v14, my understanding is that the new scrollable frames (and Pan Only objects) are no longer based on Web Content overlays. This improves their performance. You're less likely to see spinning wheels when you flip quickly to an article with scrollable frames. But it also means that creating interactive menus in HTML still isn't possible. Again, that's my understanding. When the new tools come out, you should experiment.

4. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Yellow Christian Aug 5, 2011 1:39 PM (in response to Johannes Eckert)If not now its probably not too far away Johannes. Like your self my minds eager to get hold of the new tools! I'm half way through my project and I'm trying to keep an open mind to what may be possible so I can incorporate the new functions without restructuring the magazine too much.

6. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
dbrown_44 Aug 21, 2011 3:07 PM (in response to Johannes Eckert)Is there an answer or a workaround to this? I was just beginning to rough out an html menu and quickly came up on the no-navto-links-in-web-overlay problem.
Johannes, in your demo it looks like you've solved this?
thanks

7. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Johannes Eckert Aug 21, 2011 3:52 PM (in response to dbrown_44)I think about HTML menus since months, but they were never possible because
of the lack of navto:// from HTML webcontent.
Bob pointed to me, that scollable frames are no longer webviews (wich
improve their perfomance), so I think we have to wait for this feature a few
more releases.
You can use navto:// links in HTML stacks (articles made from HTML files),
if you refer to my interactive index.

9. Re: Will new Authoring Tools (v14) allow navto:// inside web views?
Johannes Eckert Oct 13, 2011 11:53 AM (in response to Franck Payen)I never tried that, because that idea was based on an assumption that
scrollable frames allowing buttons are still converted into HTML, but that
is not the case, therefore, I don't think that webviews allow navto://,
actually, I did not find the time to test yet.
