Nini Tjäder Aug 7, 2011 10:01 AM (in response to margieannejulie)1 GB is VERY little nowadays. Recommendation is to have something like 10-15% free space (of the original size of your disk) on the startupdisk free and preferably a totally empty or very large disk for scratchdisk.

Gareth Milligan-4aZolh Aug 7, 2011 12:21 PM (in response to margieannejulie)Imagine a scratch disk as extra memory to process your image it is basically virtual memory, to change scratch disks go to Preferences - Performance, you will see your scratch disk, if you have more than one available disk then try to select the fastest disk with the most available space, then move that disk to the top of the list. You will need to restart Photoshop for changes to take affect.
