Does this happen if you create a new "hello world" Flex mobile project?
The same happened for me.
I installed FB4.5.1.
I created the Hello World mobile project which was working fine when debugging/running in ADL.
I closed my FB.
Then I installed the Air Launchpad application and created a project.
I then started FB and imported my new project created by launchpad which seemed perfectly ok except that...
I just got a blank screen when I tried to debug or run it in ADL.
I thought then that the installation of Air Launchpad might have corrupted my FB installation so...
I unistalled FB.
Imported my Air Launchpad project again and this time it worked great.
I then thought I had fixed the problem so...
I closed my FB again.
When I then started my FB to test the projects again the same problem happened: When running/debugging in ADL the screen is just empty.
Not even if I switch workplace and create new project the ADL displays anything but an empty screen.
It seems in other words that the problem occurs when FB is closed and then opened....
Im running MacOSX 10.6.7.
I was able to solve the issue. When FB decides to draw a blank when running/debugging a simulated mobile device, i do 4 things (not sure if all are necessary yet):
1) delete the generated swf file in the project bin-debug folder
2) kill the adb.exe process in the task manager
3) open internet explorer and clear the entire cache (i know this one is strange, but i read that air can cache files in the same folder that IE uses for caching)
4) clean the project
i've used this process three times and works every time without restarting FB. -bp
correction: in step 2 above, the process is called adl.exe not adb.exe.
Thanks for the quick answer, unfortunately the problem still exists.
PS: I'm on a Mac so luckily I have no Internet Explorer cache to clear, have you been able to strike that from you list of actions?
I'm having exactly the same issue with both mobile and non-mobile projects. I have installed and reinstalled Flash Builder 4.5 several times, yet no luck.
So any help would be greatly appeciated. I'm on a Mac to OSX 10.6 something.
It's a right pain!
I was having the same problem. I had air 2.5 runtime installed and was using Flash Builder with Flex 4.5.1 + Air SDK 2.7. I tryed everything but nothing worked, til I closed Firefox and my app started loading as espected! I thunk Firefox was using one version of Air and Flash Builder another. I updated Air to 2.7.1 and now everithing works great...
Lol, that actually solved the problem seems very similar to the workaround of clearing the IE cache also mentioned.
I had filed a bug for this earlier today ( https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-32320 ) but have now also posted your workaround from this thread, hopefully they'll solve it soon, since it was totally useless before.
Cheers and thanks a lot for posting!
Nah, still nothing. Tried closing all browsers, updated to AIR 2.7.1 still nothing.
Any more for any more???
I spent few days with the same problem trying everthing except for reinstall of OS (Snow Leopard). It turned out ADL runs fine in another account. It has to do something with the user settings/accounts.
Have you tested shutting down Firecox (on Mac) or clearing the IE Cache and stopping IE before starting Flash Builder?
of course... Tried removal/reinstall of flash player, air, Flash Builder, eclipse, power on/off, log off/on, etc. I am curious to see other Mac users can create another user and can resolve this just like I did.
I have the same issue on Mac 10.7 (Lion). Under a new User Account the AIR app is runing fine, but that can't be the solution.
Any one found a better solution in the meantime?
Ughh, it ran fine under the new account for a while. The problem is back. I've created another new one just for kicks and it works........ This is not the solution!
As I suspected it's something to do with my account as it only happens on machine, not the other guys who have exaclty the same spec machines as me.
Not tries changing user account yet, as it not really a peasible solution for my work machine. Would be nice if Adobe could look into this one as it is a pain!
Working on a Lib I've got a Warning that some styles would be not included and that something should be move to a library-path. Unfortunatly I deinstalled the FB so I can't post the exactly warning. :/
Yeah, not a solution, problem is back for me and the solution i posted earlier no longer works!
Kill Firefox and ADL always runs fine, open Firefox and ADL stops working.
I gott the exat same issue, uninstalled AIR, Flex, Flash player debugger put all back and could not solve it, the above is working at all times so far.
As a work-around, apart from closing Firefox which also works, try upgrading the AIR SDK to 2.7:
1) Download a ZIP from http://www.adobe.com/products/air/sdk/
2) Backup your 4.5.1 SDK
3) Extract the files from the ZIP over your 4.5.1 folder
ADL included in 2.7 SDK doesn't seem to suffer from the issue. Hope it works for you - it did for me.
I'm on AIR 2.7, so far closing Firefox the only way...
Make sure that you use AIR 2.7 SDK, the runtime alone is not enough.
Hmm, after a while the problem came back even with 2.7 SDK. I'm now trying 3.0 RC SDK to see if it helps.
it didn't work for me at all... Even closing FireFox doesn't help.
Check this posting http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856932
I had the same problem (blank app). Turns out Firefox had modified a file called mm.cfg. Seems this might be found in a couple of places, but mine is in my home directory.
I edited that file and FB/adl works again. My current version reads as follows:
It works! My mm.cfg file exists in my home directory. I removed the entry for the PreloadSWF that was set to flashfirebug. It works even with the Firefox open. Thanks!
hey, well noticed, it now works here too. Bugger Firebug!
worked! excellent! thank you.
