So I downloaded a trial for Premier Pro CS5.5 with hopes of getting the full product later on. I decided to run a fun little test to import some footage filmed from a digital camera, with footage stored onto an SD card, which is conncted to my macbook via the approrpiated cable which showed up as "disk" within Premiere's import options. When I attempt to import footage from a "disk" it doesn't let me do that. It attempts to sign me up a "Mobile Me" account which it then tells me it doesn't do anymore.
So I'm just curious as to how to actually import from external devices? Like I said, it's just to test it.
Copy the footage to your local hard drive first, using the operating system/file browser. Premiere Pro doesn't move files when you import, so you can run into some weird issues when trying to import from external or slow media.
Thing is, I can try and access the SD files even from just finder and it throws the same thing at me. So I've realised it's not a problem started by Premiere.
I don't have a saved link, but some time in the past week or three someone posted a problem with a camera that had built-in ram plus a removeable SD card
They were able to "see" the built-in ram with (Finder or Windows Explorer, I don't remember if Mac or Windows) but the only way they could access the SD card was to remove it from the camera and use an adapter connected to a USB port
