perhaps you can help with this:
i want to apply a character style to every other sentence in a really long paragraph. i have figured out how to isolate a single sentence:
however, i am not fluent enough with GREP to know how to tell it to skip every other sentence. i feel like i am missing something super obvious here. any help is much appreciated.
It sounds that by "a single sentence" you mean: start with uppercase, and always end with ". "?
If so, this is OK: (?<=\.\s)\u.+?\.
GREP is meant to search, in general, and is not very good with instructions of the type "every other".
But since this is the Scripting forum: you could search for 'sentences' with the expression you already created, and then iterate over the Found items array to format every other sentence.
moluapple—that works perfect. i needed the 'zero or one time' question mark in there to stop repeating the cycle after it found 1 period.
thanks so much!
