If v4, have you updated the Roxio component?

Darren Hall Aug 12, 2011 12:50 PM (in response to John T Smith)Hi John,
CS5.5. I have just burned a disc at 2x speed and it seems to be better. How can you set the layer break to a specific point?. The project I am trying to burn is a sporting event with loads of short clips so I would like to have the layer break at the end of one of the clips not in the middle.
thanks
Darren

Stan Jones Aug 12, 2011 1:52 PM (in response to Darren Hall)Are you using any motion menus? Have you exceeded the 1 gig limit for menus etc?
I assumed 16:9 and forgot to look before I started posting: it does not look like it, but be sure you don't have more than 18 buttons per menu (if it is 16:9).
With lots of short clips, break position should not be an issue. You can export to a folder and use imgburn which gives more control over layer breaks.
Even though complex, it all looks straight forward, and, even though I can't see the image detail, it looks okay. The most likely issue in such a project is that Encore got lost as you made changes/corrections. Sometimes they can be fixed. Other times, the solution is a do over. Newer versions for Encore appear more robust (fewer problems and more likely to fix problems), but no versions appear to be free of such issues.

Darren Hall Aug 12, 2011 2:07 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Hi Stan,
all the menus are static and the project is 16 x9 all the buttons total to the maximum of 11 per menu. I have just found that the DVD starts getting stuck after the layer break. I did make a image and that works fine from the hard drive (if i play it from the HDD) and I did try image burn with no luck. I am using CBR would that make a difference.
I will try with a different make of dual layer disc in the morning and see if that works.
thanks
Darren

John T Smith Aug 12, 2011 3:54 PM (in response to Darren Hall)>different make of dual layer disc
Saved note...
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim dual layer
Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable dual layer
http://www.discmakers.com/shop/ItemDetails.aspx?ItemID=DVD034-00010I echo the note about using Imgburn for the actual burning process

Bill Hunt Aug 12, 2011 6:22 PM (in response to Darren Hall)Darren,
I second Verbatim DL blank media, and always burn at 2.4X on my system.
Now, with those myriad Clips, do you have them on separate Timelines (99 limit), or are they ganged onto one Timeline?
Good luck,
Hunt

Darren Hall Aug 12, 2011 10:51 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hi Bill,
I have two time lines: 1 = intro set to first play 2 = the sporting event +- 213 min. What writers are you using (i have a LG this is the only Blu ray I could find at the time of my build).

Darren Hall Aug 12, 2011 10:55 PM (in response to John T Smith)Thanks John,
I will try find other disc's the problem in South Africa is we have tons of rubish laying around and even if you purchase a brand name it could be a rib off and I need to burn 100 disc's. I might just go back to 3 normal DVD's. alot more work but it will work fine.
thanks

9. Re: Help with burning large project on dual layer DVD
Bill Hunt Aug 15, 2011 2:14 PM (in response to Darren Hall)On the workstation, I have both an LG and a Plextor DVD multi-drive. I go with different brands, as some see certain recorded discs better than others. This gives me two goes at reading a disc on that machine. On the laptop, I have an NEC/Sony, and then a Memorex (do not know the exact multi-drive in the box) and an HP external - both FW-400, or USB 2.0, so I have five possibilities total. Other than odd things, like an RW created with Roxio/Nero DLA or InCD, I have never found a disc, in good shape, that at one would not read. All of my burners are DVD multi-drives.
Good luck,
Hunt
