    Keyword Heirarchy

    bonalymac999 Community Member

I have a minor prob I'm trying to resolve. Its not a major prob, but it does annoy me.

I have for example a heirarchy with

      Architecture > Bridge

      Architecture > Harbour

      Architecture > Building

      Architecture > Ancient

      etc

Unfortunately, I have entered a small number of images with the parent keyword "Architcture"  itself. I would prefer that there were zero entries in the parent, and that all entries should be in one of the child keywords

If I use the right arrow to display Architecure, it includes (as it should) ALL the entries in parent and child. If I filter ist shows all. etc. I did wonder if the SHow images in sub-folders would solve the prob, but it didn't.

As I have thousands in the whole Architecture keyword, manual searching is not very easy. Is there any way to find these few images.

      Ta

      Colin

(the main reason it is an issue, is that I have doen this with quite a few keywords, so there are a few to clean up)

          Solved it.

I created a new child entry for example, I had a number entered as Castle. So I created "Castle misc" as a child keyword under Castle, then selected all the Castle keywords, and in the Keyword list simply edited Castle to "Castle misc"

A fairly quick way to find all the images that have a parent keyword e.g. in your case, "Architecture":

            • make a selection the first half of all your image folders in the Folders pane on the left and then select all the images within that selection (CTRL +A)
            • look in the Keywording pane on the right to see if the "Architecture" keyword is in this selection.
              •   If not, select the second half of the folders and look in the Keywording pane.
              •   If it is in the keywording pane, select only the first half of the folders in your current selection and select all the images within that selection (CTRL + A)
            • continue this process until you narrow down to the folder(s) and image(s) that contain the keyword that needs to be removed. It's kind of a binary search process...

A simpler solution that's not at all obvious from the documentation: In the Keyword column in the Filter Bar, click the down-arrow on the right side, and select View: Flat. Now when you select a keyword that has children (e.g. Architecture), you'll only see images that have the keyword proper assigned, not its children.
