I have been using Premiere Elements for several weeks, and this just started yesterday. Whenever I add a video to the timeline, it adds it 5 times. Each instance is of varying length. I can delete the extra instances, but I cannot figure out how to keep it from doing it to begin with, and it is really frustrating. I have made sure I am not selecting more than one video at a time. Any ideas? thx
OK, I think I figured it out, but I'm still struggling a bit. I somehow had certain videos stacked together, and when I placed them on the timeline they would be grouped together. However, even though I went through the help files, I could not unstack them. So deleted them from the organizer, added media and brought them back in. That worked.
But I still don't know how I managed to stack them in the first place, and why I could not unstack them.
You had more than one video in the Project panel selected when you dragged your clip(s) to the timeline.
When you first add a number of clips to your project, they're sometimes selected by default.
Just click off to deselect them, then select only the clip or clips you want to add.
