Stroke on Font does not Display Crisp in Digital PDF

I posted an issue in the InDesign forums regarding an issue with stroking fonts within InDesign and exporting to PDF. From testing and forum feedback, I now believe it is not an issue with InDesign, but an issue with Acrobat. I think the information and pictures in the other post is helpful so I will put a link so it can be viewed. The main issue is that when I create a PDF from InDesign, if I use any stoke (border) on the font, the PDF has a white space between the character and the stroke. If I use the distiller and print to a PDF, the there is no issue. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have tried every page display setting adjustment possible. Using Acrobat Pro X on a Window 7 Machine. InDesign 5.5.
