Problem filtering on keywords
bonalymac999 Aug 15, 2011 10:25 AMI'm having a prob with applying a library filter. I've scanned in lots of old photos, from almpost 100 years ago and spent ages keywording them. Now I want to use those keywords.
I've created a smart collection with all the images (1480 of them), and used a filter as follows
Keywords Contain Mae
It returns 721 images. But many of the do not contain the person called "Mae". I've tried "contains all" & "contains words" and each returns 721 images.
If I take several examples, the keywords entered for the incorrectly filtered images are
B&W, Mum Albums, Rosemary Main
B&W, Jennifer Main, Mum Albums
Allan Jenkins, B&W, Mum Albums
Anne MacLennan, B&W, Joyce McDonald, Mum Albums
None of those have the characters "mae" anywhere. I also checked and none of the captions/titles contain Mae. I then remembered that the images were all in the path
F:\ImgFiles\Mae McDonald - Albums\A07
BUT
if it was using this, it should return all 1480 images as they are all in that same path
I then checked (using the same collection) another name "Ewen" which as you'll see above does NOT appear in the path.
This returned me 951 images, with many, many not including images of Ewen
sample keywords used for incorrectly filterd images are
B&W, Joyce McDonald, Mum Albums
B&W, Bunty Rountree, Joyce McDonald, Mae Rountree, Mum Albums
Anne MacLennan, B&W, Jean Macmillan, Mary Steven, Mum Albums
Am I doing something wrong? I am certainly not getting the results I am expecting, but I've no idea why. I've spent a lot of time keywording, and really want to see the benefit of it.
Incidentally, I checked the filter on Caption and file name, and they are giving me the sort of results I expect. I also tried "Contains All" ewen mae which gave me 545 results including quite a few that had neither ewen or mae in the keywords.
Finally I did an Optimize Catalog in case it had been corrupted, but the results were the same, I also checked the filter on the folder itself, ie ignoring the Collection in case that had any effect. No joy there either.
Any help welcome.
Thanks
I
