    Variable Scope in ActionScript Class

I am writing a Class that uses an array to capture the position of letters in the alphabet. When I create the first instance of the class the array works well. It seems that each time I create subsequent instances of the class, the array keeps the information from all previous instantiations. Does this have something to do with variable scope? I use the array.push to add items to the array. Could this be the issue? Sorry for the length of the code but if you open it up in a .as file you can use the line number references.
