When printing from Adobe Reader to a Virtual Printer, the resulting pdf sometimes contains CID fonts, even though the original document does not (original pdf encoding: Ansi).
The document properties of the resulting pdf look like this:
Not all PDF Readers have this behavior. Can I prevent this from happening somehow?
(I need to extract text programatically from the resulting PDF, but I cannot do that with CID fonts. )
You cannot change the encoding of fonts in a PDF with Reader. If you need to extract the text from a pdf, printing to a virtual printer is not the way to go. Interpreting the pdf is. You would be best off asking questions about this in the Acrobat SDK forum.
The printing to the virtual printer is not something I can influence, it is part of an exisiting business process. I need to be able to extract text from the end result of that process. I was hoping I could instruct users to change some setting of their Reader installation, but no luck I guess.
(Sorry about posting two similar questions. I started a new thread once I found a more precise way of explaining my problem)
